So far at my new job I've been doing a lot of filing of medical records. Among the interesting things that are found in medical records are: Death certificates, blood sugar test logs with GROSS stains on them, and notes from some very pissed off customers (most of whom are old). The oldest person whose records I've come across so far is 96 years old; the youngest is 3. I think someone I know's mom is one of their customers. People have very weird names, and there are a LOT of old people named Dorothy. My boss's name is Dorothy, but I haven't met her yet so I have no clue if she's old. My maternal grandmother's name is Dorothy. She would be turning 99 this year if she were still alive... I'd say that qualifies as old. I like the people in the medical records department. There are a lot of diabetic men with erectile dysfunction. (The previous 2 statements are 100% unrelated to each other.) So yup, the job is going well. Maybe some day I will get to work in the department I am actually assigned to? LOL.

Jenn DID in fact have her baby on April 1st. Hurray! His name is Alistair Lewis (last name) and he is stinkin adorable. I should take a walk over to Jenn & Dan's apartment and meet this kid. I just had a totally random thought... Dan works at Starbucks, do you think he will put coffee in the baby bottles? Hahahahaha.

I might be going to Sarasota tomorrow, which is exciting because I haven't been there. I've driven through there but never actually visited the place. Does anyone know what we can do there besides drop something off that Brian is selling, and go to the beach? *looks at [livejournal.com profile] shypoet* ;) That will be exciting since I have absolutely NO plans this weekend, so if I go tomorrow then I will have plans. w00t.

Hey guess what? My parents are coming to visit on May 9th until the 15th. Yay!!! This means that a)I get to spend Mother's day with my mother, and b)they will get to meet Brian! (I typed "Brain" again... no, I am NOT dating Penny Gadget's freakin dog!!!) Oh and I will get to see my mom now that she's had hip replacement surgery... not that she will look different, but still.

So that's about it for now. Oh and I'm going to see Brand New on Monday! WAHOO!!! :D

You should go see the botanical gardens. I posted pics of it a few entries back. No idea what else to do there though.

I'm jealous that your parents come to visit. My parents can only manage to get time off/make the trip on graduations or other such once every many years occasions.

Yeah, I knew there was a botanical gardens there... I will have to check out your pics.

My dad is retired so he has all the time in the world "off". My mom works part time and her job has been very good about letting her take time off over the past 6 years or so. Last time I saw them was in December.

So, umm... yeah. My maternal grandmother is also Dorothy. Yeah... I really hope we do something fun... (yes, I'm Brai... I mean, Brian ;) )

Botanical Gardens? Sounds fun. I enjoy walking and looking at plants. Soooo... Anyway, I'm going to write in my own LJ now.

I wikied it and there's some kids' science museum. I WANNA GO! admission is $9. And I am definitely up for botanical gardens. They have this jungle gardens place too but that's expensive. Screw that.

Filing is NOT fun. We're finally going through all our files and spring cleaning it. And trust me... me when it comes to finding weird names, I can top it. Parents these days name their kids the weirdest shit.

Good luck at your new job... and what department were you assigned to?

I'm supposed to be in Administrative Services... which DOES actually include helping Medical Records out. It's just that I haven't even been to AS yet! LOL.

Yes I really do not like filing, but at least it's better than one of my previous positions where the term files room had huge heavy boxes and I was all alone. At least here there are shelves and I can sit in a chair and there are people!

Is this job through a temp agency as well?

The Ringling Museum is a great place to go in Sarasota.

Hey glad life is treating you well.

I got a job working at a sleep-away GS camp in VA for the summer. They asked for references that can verify my experience of working in a camp environment and I put you down. I hope you don't mind. I kept forgetting to ask, so I just put you down anyway. Soooo if you get some call from a council in VA asking how you know me and stuff, that's why! But I have no idea if they'll actually call...

peace out

cool, Thanks! I saw on Leah's facebook event thing that you told her that, so yay! I hope they pay better than Aspetuck, haha.

That's one of the reasons why I agreed to work there: I need more than Aspetuck pay! And granted it's not as much as the camp I worked at last year, but the food and board is provided, so that means more $ is being saved overall. Works for me.
