Jun. 15th, 2006 10:49 pmIn other news, my operations manager (the one who thinks he's a motivational speaker) is silly.
At work we use an automated dialer. If an element doesn't have a phone number in it, the dialer won't pick it up. So today I get this call, which according to the dialer screen is an education verification at a school called "NOT LISTED" (which obviously means there's no name listed for the school in the element). I notice the area code, 727, our area code. So I'm thinking, "OK I'm calling a school in Pinellas County, they'll probably tell me to call the district, blah, etc." The following ensues...
Me: Me.
BL: Our ops manager.
Me: Hi, may I please speak with whoever can verify that a student went to your school?
BL: Yeah, who is this?
::At this point I open the element. You can't open the element until it pops up on the dialer, unless you have psychic powers and know the case #/person's name/their SSN in advance... lol. I read on the screen "Arizona GED Board" and wonder why am I calling Pinellas County when this is in Ari-freakin-zona??? So whoever I'm talking to sounds like some kid, and I have no clue that it's actually BL.::
Me: This is Traci with (name of company).
BL: Oh yes! I love it when this happens!
::WTF? And what does this note mean- "I put my # in to test this" Was that on the application? WHO IS THIS KID?::
Me: Uh, who is this?
BL: It's Brian!
::HOLY CRAP WHAT JUST HAPPENED HERE? Oh wait, it says "BL" at the end of this note... I get it! But... why???::
Me: Oh my gosh!!!!!!
BL: This is my cell phone. I was testing to see if I put a number in here, it would get picked up on the dialer. Obviously it worked! Where are you trying to call?
Me: The AZ GED board.
BL: They require a letter with a fee... go ahead and do that, and put the right number in for tomorrow. Thank you!
Hahahaha so yeah it was really funny. I was in shock for a good hour after that... I mean, who DOES that? And even my co-workers agree that it would be ME who ended up with that call!

Date: 2006-06-16 06:05 pm (UTC)Stuff like that has happened to me several times at work. Sometimes when transferring a customer to their local division, something will go wrong (e.g. in the phones or if the division is closed) and it routes it back to us. I've been routed back to the person sitting next to me. Once it happened where my friend across from me got it and after she was done her opening script I just said, "Aimee, turn around," and she was all, "Wuhh?" and I told her to turn around again and when she turned and saw me waving at her, it was really funny.
