traci has no life
Jan. 12th, 2003 01:03 amok i have this book called annual manual for girls and it has a piece of advice for each day. obviously, not all of you are girls! but most of the advices aren't really gender specific anyway. so in my boredom i'm typing up the piece of advice that goes with all your bdays. and sorry that some of these have really dumb mini-dialogues/stories/quotes.
1/14 - Let your parents know how much you love them. Write them a note, or even better--tell them in person!
1/19 - Do you floss your teeth every day? If you don't, or you don't know how, give your dentist a call and ask him or her about it! It's vital to the future of your sensational smile!
2/4 - Jennie: I can't believe you didn't invite me to come over!
Andrea: Well, remember when we were four, and you didn't ask me?
If you're battling it out with your best bud, keep this in mind: Don't bring up pesky problems from the past. Keep to the point--and the present--by talking about what's really bothering you.
3/4 - Plant a garden with your family, and have each member be responsible for a certain type of vegetable or for a partcular area in the garden.
3/21 - Do you love to wear your brother's or sister's clothes. . .without asking? Your sibling probably wouldn't mnd letting you borrow some clothes if you remember to ask first. And wouldn't it be nice to surprise them by washing and ironing the item you borrowed before returning it?
4/3 - Actions speak louder than words.
4/9 - Every time you look in a mirror today, take a minute to see what's inside. Are you filled with love, patience, and caring, or jealousy and bitterness? If you like what you see, give yourself a pat on the back; if you don't, give yourself a hug--you need it!
4/17 - If a friend has a problem, listen to her with both ears, both eyes, and especially your heart.
4/22 - Draw a doodle of how you feel today. Try using colored markers and take notice of what colors you use. Warm colors like red and orange may indicate happy, excited feelings; while cool colors like blue and green may indicate feelings of sadness or relaxation.
4/25 - For fun, start keeping track of all the movies you see. If you like, decorate a special notebook for the purpose. Write down the movie name, describe your favorite part (or the dumbest part), then rate the movie from 1-10. (You can do this with books, too!)
5/10 - Write a poem about the worst thing that happened to you today. Often, putting your thoughts down on paper will make you feel much better. And you may discover that the "terrible thing" that happened wasn't so bad after all.
7/26 - If you love cruising the street on your bicycle, always wear a helmet. Don't be a stubborn hardhead--your noggin is easier to crack than you think.
8/4 - "I want to write, but more than that, I want to bring out all kinds of things that lie buried deep in my heart." Anne Frank, The Diary Of A Young Girl
Whenever you feel as if there is no one you can talk to, put your feelings down in words. Start a journal! Don't force yourself to write in it every day, but only when you feel like it.
8/11 - Marti got her feelings hurt when her friend Chrissy told Matt that Marti liked him. But just last week Marti had divulged one of Chrissy's confidences.
Marti probably never heard of the saying "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." Today and always, keep it in mind.
8/31 - Make a scrapbook of your favorite sports figures or movie celebrities. You can cut out articles and pictures from the daily newspapers, as well as from your favorite hip magazines. From time to time, look back over your scrapbook and see how your taste has changed.
9/14 - Starting today, make it a habit to wander through your local public or school library once every two weeks. You'll be amazed at all the fascinating books you'll find.
9/25 - "I was gratified to be able to answer promptly. I said I don't know." Mark Twain
Never be afraid to say "I don't know." How else will you ever learn anything?
9/29 - Brush your teeth after lunch. Not only does it help keep your teeth healthy, it gives you good breath--and you never know when that special someone may want to talk to you!
10/4 - You have to live with yourself, not your friends. So if you don't feel right about doing something "everyone" seems to be doing--don't.
10/10 - Want to stand out from the crowd today? Set your hair aglow with glitter. First lightly hair-spray your hair, then sprinkle colored glitter onto it. Then, put hair spray on your head again to make sure the glitter stays in place.
10/16 - "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all." Thumper, Walt Disney's Bambi
Before you criticize someone, ask yourself, will this help them or hurt them?
11/12 - Look up in your handy dictionary every word you come across that you don't know.
